Ask your instructor to demonstrate the correct procedure. 2) Rinse the solid with about 30 mL of distilled water and decant the liquid from the solid. It is critical that as little solid as possible is lost during this process. Repeat the rinsing two or three times. * Step H: 1) Pour 25 mL of the 1 M hydrochloric acid into the beaker and rinse the solid by swirling the acid around in the bottom of the beaker. Caution ââ¬â Hydrochloric acid is corrosive to eyes, skin and clothes. Wearing a lab apron, rubber gloves, goggles, and a face shield is essential. Rinse any spills on skin or clothing with plenty of cold water. Clean up spills immediately ââ¬â ask your instructor for help. 2) Decant the hydrochloric acid from the solid and then again rinse with 30 mL of distilled water and decant. Be careful not to lose any of the solid. * Step I: 1) Allow the copper in the beaker to dry at low temperature in a drying oven for at least one hour. 2) Determine the mass of the beaker and the copper. 3) Repeat the drying process just to be sure that the copper is completely dry, and again determine the mass of the copper and the beaker. 4) If the masses agree, stop. Daisy Miller, Huck Finn, TS Eliosts Wasteland essays
Daisy Miller, Huck Finn, TS Eliost's Wasteland essays In The Waste Land Eliot suggests that a man can be reborn if he gives, sympathizes, and has self-control. There are many characters within American Literature that could have benefited from this advice. Characters such as Amanda Wingfield , the personas in Home Burial, and Daisy Miller exemplify people, that if this advice was readily accessible, could have understood circumstances and could have been figuratively been reborn. In the previously noted characters lives, they let either society or their own regression take over instead of their own self-assurance and capabilities to empathize with others. By taking the advice with a grain of salt they would have been more prepared for the situations that made their lives tumultuous. However there are characters in literature that are the personification of this advice. The character Huck Finn is the personification that by giving, sympathizing, and demonstrating self-control one may be reborn. By his abilities to do all of the previ ously mentioned actions he went through an initiation story of him growing into a kind and capable man. Amanda Wingfield, the personas within Home Burial, and Daisy Miller are the antithesis of the above advice, while Huck Finn is its exemplification. By learning to give, sympathize, and demonstrate self-control, the characters afore mentioned would have, or have already, furthered their actions and outcomes greatly. Amanda Wingfield, a deserted wife and the mother of Laura and Tom, is the protagonist of the play The Glass Menagerie. She is to be pitied, for she lives in a world of dreams and illusions. She has preconceived ideas about what is right for her son and daughter and tries to make her dreams for them come true; she wants Tom and Laura to bring her the happiness that her husband failed to give her. She does this by not giving her daughter the sympathy needed to nurture Laura with her handicap, by r...

Synonyms for Clothes
Synonyms for Clothes Synonyms for Clothes Synonyms for Clothes By Mark Nichol Words that refer collectively to oneââ¬â¢s clothes have an origin in the sense of equipment or preparation; here are a dozen words available as alternatives to clothes. Apparel, ultimately derived from the Latin verb apparare, meaning ââ¬Å"prepare,â⬠started out in English as a verb but then came to be associated with clothing (as well as a shipââ¬â¢s rigging); apparatus is related. The origin of attire is the French word atirier, meaning ââ¬Å"equipâ⬠or ââ¬Å"prepareâ⬠; it, too, began as a verb. Clothes comes from the Old English plural of cloth. (When this sense became rare, cloth acquired a new plural: cloths.) Costume, from the Latin word consuetudinem, meaning ââ¬Å"customâ⬠or ââ¬Å"habitâ⬠(costume and custom are cognate), was later associated with oneââ¬â¢s style of dress. It is now mostly associated with clothing worn by performers or partygoers. Dress, which originally meant ââ¬Å"prepare,â⬠derives ultimately from the Latin term directus, meaning ââ¬Å"directâ⬠or ââ¬Å"straight,â⬠and later became a noun as well as a verb. The French term garnement, from the noun garner, meaning ââ¬Å"adornâ⬠or ââ¬Å"provideâ⬠(also the source of garnish) was adopted into English as garment. Habiliments, from the Old French term abiller, meaning ââ¬Å"equipâ⬠or ââ¬Å"prepare,â⬠originally referred to weaponry but came to pertain to characteristic attire, such as an outfit worn to identify a personââ¬â¢s occupation or tacitly prescribed clothing that is appropriate for a specific occasion, such as a formal-dress event. (Related words are able and ability, billet, habit, and habilitate.) Outfit originally meant to prepare and supply a sea expedition, then later became a noun referring to equipment and items required for such an undertaking by sea or by land and, by extension, to clothing. (It now also informally refers to a group of people.) The archaic word raiment derives from an Old French word areement, the noun form of the term areer, the origin of the English verb (and noun) array. Vestments comes ultimately from the Latin verb vestire, meaning ââ¬Å"clothe,â⬠by way of Old French; itââ¬â¢s related to vest. (Vestibule is unrelated, though the financial sense of vest, and the root word in invest and divest, are cognate, deriving from a sense of vestire that pertains to surrounding oneself with something figuratively as if putting on clothes.) Wardrobe, from the Old French word garderobe (and the dialectical variant warderobe), originally referred to a dressing room, then to oneââ¬â¢s collection of clothing and later to a piece of furniture for storing clothing; the senses derive from the French warder, meaning ââ¬Å"guardâ⬠or ââ¬Å"keep,â⬠and robe, which was directly borrowed into English to refer to a garment. The French form of the word has been used in English but is rare. (The connection between g and w in French words used in English is also seen, for example, in guarantee/warranty and Guillaume/William.) Wear, from an Old English term meaning ââ¬Å"clotheâ⬠or ââ¬Å"cover upâ⬠(and related to the ward in wardrobe), is generally used in combination to refer to a particular type of clothing, as in the terms sportswear and underwear. Slang terms for clothing include duds, garb, get-up, rags, rig, threads, and togs. Want to improve your English in five minutes a day? Development of a new product Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words
Development of a new product - Essay Example From this research it is clear that the modern world has witnessed tremendous developments in all fields of life in the wake of fastest technological advancements, which have modified the very scenario of lifestyle in general. The advanced countries are considered to be the beneficiaries of globalisation, though every nation has taken advantage from this process. Although these advancements have brought marvellous comforts in human life, yet work hours have observed a constant increase, and leisure hours are shrinking swiftly. Since the rise of the Information Age, the concept of the office has not been confined to the four walls of the building of work place any more. Rather, people remain busy at work on computer on holidays too at home. As a result, the maintenance of equilibrium between work and life is becoming a dream only, and holidays are also being spent in the completion of professional tasks and assignments. ââ¬Å"If workers of the modern times were overworked, those of the post modern times are not only overworked but also over managed, employers appearing eager to try the ââ¬Å"flavour of the dayâ⬠in order to increase the financial performance of their companiesâ⬠. Imbalance in lifestyle can be witnessed in the unevenness of diet, which adversely affects the health of the workers. At this precarious state of affairs, there is an urgent need for developing and presenting a perfect and hygienic liquid diet that could immediately restore the energy level, which is lost while spending time in different professional, personal and domestic activities at offices, fields, residences and playgrounds. Keeping in mind these challenging factors, Ailasia Inc. has launched a new drink that would be helpful in restoring the energy level of the individuals particularly during their work hours, and would not let them feel tired or exhausted. Hence, the drink, Energy-R, will increase the work proficiency of the industrialists, consultants, workers and managers alike, and will lead them make progress in their business or career. Statement of the Problem The management only hires the services of intelligent, brilliant, healthy and fit personnel and workers, which can pay extra heed to their organisation. If the work force appears to be exhausted and inefficient, it would become almost impossible to meet with the targets and achieve the goals determined by the management of the organisation. Since an overwhelming majority of a population is involved into economic activities in one way or the other, there is an immediate need of an energy boosting supplement for improving their work efficien cy. Hence, Energy-R will serve as a wonderful drink for the people working at any place for the recovery of their energy level, and the product will suddenly capture the attention of millions of people even outside the UK. This drink may be an excellent antidote to the problems and changes caused by the Information Age. Research Aims and Objectives It is a fact that is beyond dispute that economic prosperity is always dependent of the diligence and commitment to oneââ¬â¢s work, which is only possible provided people are efficient and are able to spend more time at work than others for their individual and collective progress. With the increase of the use of computers at the office and lengthening of the work day, people have less energy to be productive. It follows that one way to increase the amount of economic success stories is through the use of a powerful energy drink. The next section focuses on the objectives of the study followed by a section on literature review. Based o n the literature reviewed, the fourth section would analyse the data collected for the present study. The fifth and the final section would consist of a conclusion and suggestions and would point out the appropriate marketing

The Vietnam War affected America Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
The Vietnam War affected America - Essay Example The Northern Vietnamese were communists and consequently had the support of the USSR and its allies, while the South received support from the US given that they were capitalists ideologically. Even though the war was fought outside the boundaries of the US, the USA got involved in it following the pursuit of the Marshall plan. This plan provided for military and financial assistance to countries that were at risk of being coerced to accept communism policy that the US was vehemently against (Anderson 86). Effect of the War on America Economy The Vietnam War had several significant effects on the US ranging from heavy economic expenditure during the war to loss of substantial number of solders in the military combat. As recognized in the Marshal plan in the United States countries that are under coercion by the communist allies would be accorded military and monetary help to come out of their situation, the US in these regard spent billions of dollars in fulfilling their commitment i n the Vietnam situations. Within the period of the war, the US spent close to $ 170 billion dollars. This was incurred in terms of the military support and financial aids during the war to the southern Vietnam. This expenditure was more than anticipated and in the eventual consideration, it had a negative impact on the economy of the US where it was pushed to the limits, and it should be noted that the expenses were only incurred in a span of 11 years in which the war was fought. The amount of money that was spent by the US mainly was incurred in military related costs; for instance, it was used mainly in the purchase of military equipment, training, and general logistics of managing a military combat, and this is according to the congressional research information following the end of the war in 1975. The hefty cost incurred in the war is a manifestation of how directly the war led to economic down falls in the US. Indirectly, the war also led to economic hindrance in a more disgui sed manner (Moyar 41). Obviously, during the times of war, there is persistent demand of military equipments and other materials. The fact that industries are always in the business of making profit given a looming demand of a product, they will not waste any of such opportunities to make money. In this relation, most companies in the US that were involved in manufacturing of other products switched their production to conform to the then military equipment demands, which included ammunition and bullets. In the end of the war, the companies had no opportunity for the markets as they had configured their companies to suit production of military materials at the expense of other economic goods. This situation led to widespread inflation in the US, leading to economic problems in the country because of the Vietnam War. Division in the US In the initial periods, the US citizens approved the Vietnam War on the basis that it was championing for the ideological freedom of the nations and o bjected the unlimited spread of the communism by the Russians-a period before the media started making coverage of the situation in the country. When the situation of the war was transmitted via television to the citizen and horrors of the war became apparent, many of the US citizens appreciated the need to end the war as it subjected humanity to unnecessary suffering that could be avoided. Through television, the US
